Dollar Store Christmas Craft : Ornament Basket Vignettes
Dollar Store Christmas crafts are all the rage, and for good reason! Who doesn’t love a craft that can be purchased by using the coins you found under your couch cushions? It’s not just the Dollar Store that’s sharing the love these days, as amazing bargain bins are showing up everywhere! Thank you Walmart, Target, and Michaels for your bargain bins featuring deals under $5. That’s still a crafters dream deal.

I came up with the idea for these baskets because I wanted a decoration for each of my bathrooms that looked great and festive, but were easy to move for cleaning (and more family always means more cleaning). These hit that sweet spot. I got two varieties of fun baskets, picked up a couple of packages of ornaments and garlands, and anything else that caught my eye. The only rule was to buy according to color.
I used the inside of an old pillow for the fill. I hate buying Polyfill when I’m working on a short-term project and the inside of a pillow looks a lot like snow. Plus, it’s an upcycle so I feel like I’m saving the planet in some small way by recycling my old pillows. Once I had a nice bed of “snow” in my basket, I artfully added my Dollar Store treasures. It was fun to play with the design, and I loved the way they turned out.
I’d love to give you some project tips, but this was just so easy that it’s almost mind-blowing. Once I did these two baskets, I started dreaming of all the other baskets that I could fill during the year! Valentine baskets and unicorn baskets. Baskets for centerpieces and for porch decorations. The possibilities are…well, you know. So I’d love to see what you dream up. Also, throw out some ideas in the comments. I’d love to be inspired by all you creative ladies.
We share our ideas on these amazing Link Parties, and you should too!
